William Stevens Perry papers, 1860-1976 (bulk 1860-1894).

Papers almost entirely pertaining to the years before Perry became bishop in 1876. Correspondence concerns his reprint of Journals of the General Convention, 1860, minor matters as secretary of the General Convention from 1865, and his publication of Historical Collections of the American Colonial Church, 1868-1874. Two letters to Bishop William Rollinson Whittingham mention the Reverend Charles R. Hale and the Russo-Greek Committee of the House of Bishops, news of the Church of England, Perry's editorship of Church and State, the schism of Bishop George D. Cummins, and other matters, 1873-1874.

William Rollinson Whittingham was born in New York City, N.Y., and graduated from the General Theological Seminary in 1825. He was ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1829 and became rector of Saint Mark's Church in Orange, N.J. Charles Reuben Hale (1837-1900) was born in Lewistown, Pa., and died in Cairo, Ill., where he was the consecrated Episcopal Bishop.
